STORY OF VIETNAMESE RICE CAKE<\/h3>\n

Once upon a time, during the reign of the sixth King H\u00f9ng, after successfully overcoming the \u00c2n invaders, the king had the intention of <\/span>passing the throne <\/b>to his child.\u00a0<\/span>At the beginning of spring, the king gathered his princes and said: “Whoever can find delicious food to serve in the most meaningful way, I will pass the throne to him.”<\/span><\/p>\n

The princes compete to find a delicious and exotic offering to present to their king and father, hoping to obtain the<\/span> golden throne<\/b>. <\/span>While other princes searched for the most expensive and most exceptional dishes, the eighteenth son, named Ti\u1ebft Li\u00eau (also known as Lang Li\u00eau), is known for his <\/span>gentle nature<\/b>, ethical lifestyle, and<\/span> filial piety towards his parents<\/b>. Since his mother passed away early and he lacked guidance, he worried about what to do.<\/span><\/p>\n

One night, he dreamt of a deity who told him: \u201cAmong all the treasures in <\/span>Heaven and Earth<\/b>, nothing is as precious as <\/span>rice<\/b>, for it is the staple food that sustains humanity. Let\u2019s use <\/span>glutinous rice<\/b> and make round and square cakes, symbolizing the shapes of Heaven and Earth. Then, let\u2019s wrap them in leaves and place the <\/span>filling inside the cakes<\/b> to represent the form of parents giving birth.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

When he awoke, Lang Lieu was very happy and started preparing the two things described by the deity with the best quality. He made a filling made of mung beans and meat symbolizing plants and animals living on earth. You will use green leaves to cover it, representing the care of parents for their children.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

On the agreed day, all the princes brought their food to the grand feast. Oh, what a splendid feast it was, with many delicious dishes!<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0Prince Ti\u1ebft Li\u00eau, however, had only two special cakes called B\u00e1nh Ch\u01b0ng and B\u00e1nh D\u00e0y. King H\u00f9ng was very curious and asked him about it.\u00a0Then, Ti\u1ebft Li\u00eau shared the story about his magical dream and explained the meaning of the cakes.<\/span><\/p>\n

The king decided to taste the cakes, and they were incredibly tasty! He praised their symbolism and announced that he would pass the throne to Ti\u1ebft Li\u00eau. <\/span>Since that day, every Lunar New Year, families come together to make B\u00e1nh Ch\u01b0ng and B\u00e1nh D\u00e0y. These cakes are offered to their ancestors and grandparents as a way of showing respect and keeping the tradition alive.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
