The story begins with extremely tiny eggs, only about 0.5 mm in size. A \u201cmother moth\u201d can lay hundreds of eggs at once. After a few days, the eggs hatch into larvae, which look like tiny caterpillars.<\/span><\/p>\n

This is when they are at their most \u201cmischievous.\u201d Instead of eating leaves, the larvae of Tineola bisselliella prefer feeding on fibers from wool, clothes, carpets, and fabrics. When they reach a certain stage of development, the larvae spin a cocoon using silk combined with dust from their surroundings. This cocoon is usually gray or brown and looks just like a piece of dirt, making it very difficult to notice. Only careful observation can reveal that they are actually there and active.<\/span><\/p>\n

After some time, they emerge from the cocoon and transform into winged moths (also known as fabric moths). At this stage, they no longer damage clothes and are almost harmless.<\/span><\/p>\n

However, even though they no longer cause damage, the adult moths continue to reproduce. Without proper control, new generations of larvae will appear and continue to damage fabrics and clothing.<\/span><\/p>\n

Avoid keeping your living space damp or dark, as these conditions create the perfect environment for them to hide and grow.<\/span><\/p>\n
